SAE Institute

The SAE Institute operates as a trade association serving the automotive, aerospace and commercial vehicle sectors by focusing on finding solutions for industry issues, creating a flexible standards development environment, providing a legal environment for industry groups to operate, enabling industry groups to publish standards, specifications and appropriate industry publications and providing comprehensive management and operational support to meet the needs and objectives of each industry group.  The SAE Institute's mission is to build industry infrastructure tailored to the respective technology, market and industry member groups while satisfying time horizons and providing the responsible resources to enable achievement of industry objectives.

Industry programs fall into four general categories:

• Consortia for the development of industry standards and compliance programs
• Professional Certification programs including professional development and continuing education
• Industry management programs
• Industry solutions

The working industry groups realize value from the SAE Institute by using its array of comprehensive management and operational support to realize greater efficiencies as the industry group focuses on its respective technologies, programs, goals and objective while operating within the SAE Institute infrastructure and legal framework.
